DAY ONE: The Untold Story, Part 1 of 3

Federation Government Building, Earth

"That's strange," said one junior diplomat.

"What?" asked the older senior diplomat.

"The Klingons just un-friended us on StarBook."

"Probably a mistake," the senior diplomat said. "The Klingons are really not all that computer literate."

"Maybe I should send them a polite note?" the junior diplomat said. "Perhaps attach a picture of a cute kitten?"

"Yeah, sure," the senior diplomat answered. "Now leave me alone for the rest of the day. I'm posting my vacation pictures on StarBook and it's tricky getting the file formats right."

Command Cruiser Kongo, Communications Room

"Hey, Bill, are you on duty?" the night shift's commo tech asked over the intercom.

"Sure, Frank, what's up?" the computer tech responded.

"I got some email from Starfelet dot com with an attachment we're supposed to run on our mainframe," the commo tech said. "Shall I send it over to you?"

"Yeah, sure," the computer tech said. "The night supervisor is off playing poker so I'll get it done and show him when he gets back. What kind of file is it?"

"Dunno," the commo tech said. "It's a .zip file."

"No problem," the computer tech said. "Send it over. I'll set it to unpacking before my break."

Starbase 15, Commo Room

"Hey, this one's pretty funny," the commo tech said.

"Did the Klingons tweet again?" the supervisor asked.

"Yeah, this one is a poem. 'Roses are red, violets are blue, stay right there, we're coming to you.' What do you think that means? Is there a diplomatic visit scheduled?"

"No idea," the supervisor responded. "At least it's not like that last one; that was just rude. I mean, 'Die Federation scum,' really. Who tweets that kind of stuff?"

"Certainly none of us!" the commo tech said.
